The Women of Faith Conference is coming to the Denver Pepsi Center on September 21-22, and a group of Bethel women will be there! This conference is completely sold out. Let us pray for you… Starting Saturday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m., a time a prayer for healing will be offered each week. If you would like a prayer team to sit and pray with you, please consider coming on any Saturday evening. Prayer time will follow the 5:30 worship service. Prayer is a mark of discipleship. Italy Trip Travelers Meeting: On Monday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m., Pastor John and Ruthann invite all of those signed up for the trip to Italy to gather in the Sanctuary for an informational meeting concerning the trip in November. Logistics, flight schedules, itinerary and any and all questions will be dealt with at the meeting. Please make every effort to attend as our time to travel is fast approaching!
The worship team had to say farewell and good luck to Troy Petersen this month while he goes off to college. He will be missed tremendously. Unfortunately, this leaves an open slot for the drums during roughly half of the Sundays at the 10:30 a.m. service. If you are a drummer and have been looking for an opportunity to get into the Worship Teams' rotation, please contact Ron Jenkins.
The NOAH group will be going to Pueblo during the month of September. We will do the Pueblo Riverwalk on September 29 (the boat ride closes for the season on September 30) and have lunch in Pueblo. No reservations are needed for this event. We will meet at the church at 10:00 on September 29 to carpool to Pueblo. Please call Judi if you plan to go so we will be sure to have enough drivers.
The next New Member Class will begin September 30. There are five sessions that are held during the 9:15 Sunday School hour, with the New Members’ Spaghetti Dinner on November 3 and the Joining weekend November 3 and 4. A signup sheet has been placed in the Narthex for anyone who is interested in learning more about the church or current members who desire to refresh their faith. Please speak with Pastor John if you are interested in membership and sign up on the interest sheet.
CROP Walk for Hunger: On Sunday, September 30, at least four hundred people will be walking some of the sidewalks of Colorado Springs to raise money for disaster and hunger relief services locally and around the world. Interfaith Hospitality Network will be one of the recipients of the money raised. (IHN provides services for homeless families in Colorado Springs and is well supported by our congregation.) We have over 30 walkers signed up already! We can still use:
Walkers – People of all ages who want to walk and raise money for a worthy cause. Consider making this a family outing, or do it with your small group.
Sponsors – People who will sponsor walkers for any amount of money to go to disaster and hunger relief services around the world.

Youth Ministry Update: Bethel’s Youth Team, after consultation with the Rocky Mountain Synod’s “Next Step” youth advisory team, are inviting applications for an interim youth minister position. Please submit applications to Pastor John. The position would be half time, approximately 20-25 hours a week, and would work primarily with junior and senior high youth ministry. The council, in consultation with the personnel and finance teams, hopes to have this individual on board by sometime in October. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Attention Bethel Hackers! It’s time again for the Bethel Lutheran Church “Witkop Cup” Golf Tournament. Open to all ages and golfers of every age and level! Tee times are 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21 at Valley Hi Golf Course, 610 South Chelton Road. Cost is $40 per person, which includes prizes, carts, and greens fees. The Art of Living Art Show and Sale will be held at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rich Designs Home, 1731 Mt. Washington Avenue. A portion of all sales will directly benefit Pikes Peak Hospice. A fall fare menu will be available for sale, antique cars will be on display, and there will be live jazz music throughout the day. Bethel Buddies (grades 4-6) Sponsors: April Prater and Amy Magnone. In September we will be touring the Humane Society. This is our chosen community service project for the year. We will meet at the Human Society, 610 Abbott Lane, no later than 10 a.m. on September 22. There will be a signup in the narthex. Senior High ATTIC (All Teens Together In Christ—9th through 12th grade) Sponsors: Danielle Hintgen and Ashley Brewer. We meet every Sunday morning for Sunday School. We are NOT meeting this Sunday (September 16) because of the lock-in on September 14-15. On September 23, we’ll go ice-blocking at Cottonwood Creek Park (weather permitting). Meet at Bethel at 6:30 and we’ll carpool over there.
Venture Crew 1225: Anyone still wishing to turn in artwork for being made into a magnet or other neat products needs to turn in their artwork by the end of this weekend to Andrew Kugler. Please call him to arrange getting your artwork to him. Crew 1225 just elected officers for the 2007-08 program year. Congratulations to Crew President Andrew Kugler, Administrative Vice President Erin Earley, Program Vice President Colleen Walker, Secretary Grayson Coco, and Treasurer Beth Coco! They will be meeting on Sunday afternoon to develop an exciting program for this year. This month we will be attending a shooting sports weekend at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch near Elbert learning skills with small-bore rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzle-loading rifle, and archery, as well as certifying our newest members in American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid Basics at our own Scout camp, Camp Alexander near Lake George. Crew 1225 meets the second and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:00pm in the high school room and has at least one highlight outdoor activity each month. Prospective members ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) through 20 are always welcome.
